Can Anybody Hear Me? (A Tribute to Enemy You) is a 2021 pop punk EP by The Lillingtons. It’s 6 tracks long, spanning 11 minutes and 37 seconds of music. The EP is the band’s tribute to the melodic punk band Enemy You, which hasn’t released any new music since 2005 - and, in addition to that, one of its members committed suicide in 2015. This is why all the tracks on the EP, with the exception of track 6, are covers of popular Enemy You songs.
With that out of the way, I’ll now delve into the quality of the music itself. Every track of the EP (with the exception of 6, which I’ll talk about later in this review) is a great display of The Lillingtons talent, with great instrumentation and vocals encompassing each track on the EP. The vocals are delivered flawlessly, and overall, there’s nothing about the EP that’s worth criticizing.
Track 6, “Untitled Yeebrah”, as said before, is the one track on the EP which is not a cover of an Enemy You song. It seems to be a snippet from a live performance (which live performance, I’m not sure), and seems to be more of a bonus track than anything. This track doesn’t affect the score, since it doesn’t really do anything for the album other than serve as a mere bonus.
My favorite tracks from the EP are “Awake” and “The Only One”.
Overall, Can Anybody Hear Me? (A Tribute to Enemy You) is a EP filled with wonderfully executed covers of Enemy You songs. There’s nothing to criticize about the EP, since everything here is delivered greatly. With its mere 11 minute run time, this album manages to pack a nice dose of pop punk in as little as 6 tracks.
