Jobie Reviews Music 10: Njet Molotoff (album) by Solistiyhtye Suomi. Requested by F63.

Njet Molotoff is a 1989 folk album by Solistiyhtye Suomi (for simplicity's sake I'll refer to them as Suomi past this point). The first song, "Njet Molotoff" is a finnish song that mocks the Red Army's failure in the Winter War. It mainly makes fun of Vyacheslav Molotov (I'm trusting that the research I've done is correct because I don’t know Finnish). Good song.

"Äänisen aallot" is, from what I could translate using GT, a song about some battle. Good song.

"Aunuksen Anja" tells the story of "Anja of Onega". Good track.

"Kirje sielta jostakin" (also for simplicity's sake im not gonna type the a with things on it every time) is another great song on the album.

"Iso lita" is yet another good track.

"Elama juoksuhaudoissa" is another good track. I would say more, but because it's in another language I can't really dissect it that much.

"18-Suomean Lotta" is another good track. Something about this genre and the fact that I can't understand the lyrics makes this album great.

"Ikava" is yet another good track.

"Sakkijarven polka" is, unsurprisingly, another banger track. This is also the case for "Sotapojan heliat", "Pienet kukkivat kummut", "Tule rohon rantaan - Far Away in Honolulu", "Eldankajarven jaa", "Naky nutiolla", "Ala sure tyttokulta", "Korshuaaveita", and the final track, "Kaverit on komeasti palkittu". This is an all around great album.

Something to note about "Tule rohon rantaan" - it's actually an adaptation of the song by Burt & Frank Leighton, released 1917. The song about Hawaii, and everything that happens there. Good adaptation.

Overall rating: A album filled with nothin but good vibes and good music. Very nice.

8.9/10
