Ample Destruction is a 1984 power metal album by the band Jag Panzer. It contains 11 tracks, spanning 44 minutes and 29 seconds of music*. The album has a very high quality style, with its distinctive power metal melodies spanning all 11 tracks. I think it’s also worth mentioning that this album was the first album ever released by the band, with a handful more following this one.
That being said, the album really delivers where it needs to. Its power metal sound is delivered flawlessly, with high energy tracks being a mainstay of the album. It also delivers in the vocal department, with lead singer Harry Conklin delivering them flawlessly.
The album has two tracks in particular that I want to address. Firstly, the track “Interlude”. As you could probably already tell by the title of the track, it’s an interlude. It doesn’t transition into the next track, “Reign of the Tyrants”, but it’s still unique in its own right. Unlike other tracks on the album, “Interlude” is an orchestral track that has occasional guitar elements thrown into its composition. For such a short track, it manages to be fairly interesting.
The next track that I want to talk about is “The Crucifix”, which starts off slowly with opera-esque vocals, before eventually breaking into a power metal melody of greatness. I think this slight modification to how the track was produced is great, seeing as how it adds more variety to an already great album.
My favorite tracks from this album are “Licensed to Kill”, “Generally Hostile”, “The Watching”, and “The Crucifix”.
Overall, Ample Destruction is quite an enjoyable listen. With its flawlessly delivered power metal sound to its general high quality, this one is sure to be a hit with every power metal fan out there.
