(requested by F63) Brendon Small’s Galaktikon II: Become the Storm (shortened to simply Galaktikon II: Before the Storm on most platforms) is a 2017 melodic death metal album by Brendon Small. It is 11 tracks long, totaling a lengthy 51 minutes and 25 seconds of music. The album is notable for having great instrumentation, vocals, and quality tracks throughout.
The album’s overall sound has no flaws with its composition, nor its vocals. Speaking of the vocals, they are delivered gloriously, with the delivery you’d expect from a death metal album. There’s really nothing to complain about here.
The album’s lyrical content follows a space theme (for example, in “Some Days are For Dying”, we see the singer struggling to survive in space), which is reminiscent of the album Starship Velociraptor by Jonathan Young and Galactikraken. This can be seen with lyrics like “Fade in to the bloodied star still looming/Closer to the planet every day/Communications destroyed”. I forgot to mention that these lyrics are actually written quite well, and are varied throughout the tracks (rather than repeated throughout it). Very nice.
The final track on the album, “Rebuilding a Planet”, is notable for being the only instrumental only track on the entire 11 track album. This track closes off the album perfectly, feeling like an end credits theme to a great movie. All in all, a very nice track.
My favorite tracks from this album are “The Agenda”, “Nightmare”, “To Kill a God”, and “Rebuilding a Planet”.
Overall, Brendon Small’s Galaktikon II: Become the Storm is a great listen all around. From its great display of melodic death metal melodies, to its creative lyrics, this one is a quality listen in every way. No complaints here.
