Eschaton is a 2006 black metal album by the band Anaal Nathrakh. It contains 9 tracks, spanning 35 minutes and 25 seconds of music. The album’s most notable trait is its utterly explosive sound, which can be found throughout the entirety of the album’s run time. This makes for a variety of highly enjoyable tracks - which are also of very high quality. You certainly won’t be bored at any moment during its over half an hour runtime.
This lends itself to the aforementioned explosive sound. With an intense black metal sound - which doesn’t let up for even a single second - this album will have you in awe, from the very first track, all the way to the very last. Anaal Nathrakh’s black metal tracks of insanity are the perfect blend of intense vocals and instrumentation, making this album a fantastic listen from start to finish.
Occasionally, the album sprinkles in some clean vocals amongst the gracious chaos of the album’s sound. These offer up some variety to the already great album, adding a bit of flavor to its perfect sound. A welcome addition, indeed.
It should also be pointed out that the track “The Yellow King” continues a (roughly) 30 second long outro which no other track on the album has. If I’d have to describe it, I’d describe it as shouting (without any singing). Though it doesn’t add much to the track in question, it also doesn’t subtract from it either. Still, it’s an interesting choice on Anaal Nathrakh’s part to include this in the song.
My favorite tracks from this album are “Between Piss and Shit We Are Born”, “Timewave Zero”, and “When the Lion Devours Both Dragon and Child”.
Overall, Eschaton is an excellent display of black metal insanity. With its fast-paced, aggressive, high-energy sound, this one is sure to entertain anyone who listens to it. The album is anything but boring, being an incredible showcase of monstrous sound which Anaal Nathrakh have been known for for years.
