Csatazaj is a 2021 rock album by the band Kárpátia. It is 10 tracks long, spanning 28 minutes and 38 seconds of music. The album continues the sound Kárpátia is well known for, with good instrumentation and good vocals being contained across the album’s entire runtime. None of these tracks have anything “wrong” with them by any means, making for an entertaining listening experience that Kárpátia’s albums always have.
You could make the argument that the largely sameish sound between tracks is a detriment to the album, but I think it’s fine in this case. Besides, the tracks vary a good bit anyway, with some tracks “going harder” than other tracks. Their sound verges on punk rock, with some moderately paced tracks being found throughout the album’s 10 tracks.
A notable divergence from the rest of the album’s sound is the last track, “Vasakarat”. There are no vocals to the track. Instead, a speech (from a person I don’t know the name of) plays over some great instrumentation. The track acts as a good, but slightly unconventional, way to end an album. The speech likely holds some significance, but I don’t speak Hungarian nor can I find any transcription of the speech anywhere online.
My favorite tracks from this album are “Hópehely”, “Barát”, and “Ihaj-Csuhaj”.
Overall, Casatazaj is another great album from Kárpátia. Nicely produced tracks are contained within the album’s entire runtime; the tracks have a great sound, great vocals, and are overall well made. Nothing to complain about here.
