Jobie Reviews Music 2: Palm Trees and Power Lines (album) - Sugarcult

The 4th album from Sugarcult, it is mostly known for the two tracks Memory and She’s the Blade, for good reason. The two tracks were featured on (then relevant in 2004) MTV. And they deserved to be! They’re both great tracks, with “Memory” already being in my playlist!

“Crying”, the track right before “Memory”, is a good track as well. Everything from the instrumental work to the vocals is good in this track.

“Worst December”, the track after “Memory”, is also good. It reminds me of what Yellowcard sounded like a few years back.

“Champagne” is probably another one of my favorite tracks from this album. I love the instrumental work, the vocals, and the overall feel of the track.

The rest of the tracks maintain the quality as the others in the album. “Sign Off”, the final track, is a diversion from the sound of the rest of the album, being an acoustic track with minimal lyrics that still makes a decent track.

Overall rating: If you like Rise Against, or any punk rock, you’re gonna like this album for sure. Lots of hits sprinkled throughout, with little drop in quality.

8.8/10
