Jobie Reviews Music 42: Beastland (album) by Author & Punisher. Requested by F63.

Beastland is a 2018 industrial metal album by Author & Punisher. It contains 8 tracks, encompassing 36 minutes of music. The album has vocals which go well with the intense, mechanical sound that Author & Punisher use in all of their works. The album has some tracks which comment on the nature of society, such as “Pharmicide” and “Apparition”. Other tracks, however, are more vague and don’t seem to follow a specific theme.

Perhaps “intense” is an understatement for the mechanical sound which nearly overpowers the vocals and seems to echo through your headphones with no mercy shown. This album is definitely not for those not used to metal, let alone this genre of metal. However, if you do like metal, you’re likely to enjoy this album. Though not following a traditional metal sound, it does remain musically interesting in its own right.

Another thing that I would like to comment on about this song is the vocals themselves. They are quite good, despite nearly being drowned out by the amazingly thunderous mechanical sound, which I’ve mentioned twice before, adding to the sound that Author & Punisher create on this album.

Overall, Beastland is the perfect album if you’re looking for strong, unforgiving mechanical melodies which are bound to impress even those who aren’t a fan of the genre.
