Jobie Reviews Music 49: Deep Polka: Dance Music from the Midwest (album) by Various Artists*

(Requested by F63)

Deep Polka: Dance Music from the Midwest is a 1998 folk/polka album by various artists*. It is 1 hour and 7 minutes long, with a total of 26 tracks on the album. The album, in its lengthy runtime, manages to be enjoyable to listen to from the very first track to the last track.

The album, made with the help of a multitude of artists*, has a variety of folk/polka tracks which each sound unique, due to the variety of artists* who worked on this album. In simpler terms, it accomplished what Can’t Resist the Astrocock couldn’t accomplish with the help of several pornogrind bands; make a great album which doesn’t sound the same from track to track with various artists onboard.

Some highlights from the album include: “Bunjevacko Kolo / S One Strane Dunava”, “Sakkijarven Polka”, “Bijeli Slapovi”, and “Owl Polka”. These, however, are just some of the good tracks on the 26 track, hour long extravaganza of pure polka melodies, as there are many more sprinkled throughout the album.

Overall, Deep Polka: Dance Music from the Midwest is a rather enjoyable polka album which excels in sound, vocals, and overall feel. Definitely listen if you’re a fan of polka.

Overall rating:
