Jobie Reviews Music 5: Endarkenment (album) by Anaal Nathrakh. Requested by F63.

Endarkenment is a metal album by the band Anaal Nathrakh. Like, really metal.

“Endarkenment”, the opening track and titular track, is a very high energy track with intense vocals. Good track.“

Thus Always to Tyrants” is a song that’s basically telling tyrants to go die. (Had to look up the lyrics, I can hardly make out the words in some parts of this song). Good track but if you like being able to make out the lyrics it ain’t for you

“The Age of Starlight Ends” is another high energy track. Although I can barely make out what’s being said, I will applaud the track for its killer guitar work.

“Libidinous (A Pig with Cocks In Its Eyes”, has a good instrumental but the vocals here aren’t my cup of tea, especially around 2 minutes 50 seconds in.

By “Beyond Words” I was starting to get really tired of the vocals. In this track it seems that they’re even louder and more unintelligible than they were before! Worst track on the album.

“Feeding the Death Machine” thankfully has normal vocals between the other vocals in the same track. Alright.

“Create Art, Though the World May Perish” is more of the same. The normal vocals here and there save this song from being bad.

After this, the vocals were starting to get real old real fast. This album has made me realize that I hate these type of vocals.

The remaining songs sadly suffer the same fate. I wanted to give the album a chance but sadly it just isn’t my thing.

Overall rating: I wouldn’t recommend listening to this album unless you REALLY love death metal. Otherwise, this album was a slog to listen to in its entirety because of the vocals. The instrumental work was great, but like I said, not the vocals.

5.8/10
