Synthpop is Dead is a 2020 synthpop album by Stephen Paul Taylor. The album has 11 songs, which make for a total of 39 minutes of music. This album is basically a more modern 80’s synth fest; which makes for an album which is reminiscent of the sound of pop during that time.
Of course, though, the album isn’t exactly 80’s pop either. It’s still closer to synthpop, with its synth melodies and slightly unusual lyrical content (see tracks like “Oil and Money’ to fully grasp what I mean by “slightly unusual lyrical content”, you’ll see), making this album have a charm of its own.
Stephen Paul Taylor makes use of his ability to perfectly soundtrack even the weirdest of the tracks on the 11 track synthpop fest of unusualness, with nice vocals matching the delightfully 80’s synth tunes.
Overall, this album is the album for you if you want something akin to 80’s pop symphonies, albeit in a more way that’s not exactly like 80’s pop, but this album is still a nice reminder of those songs.

8.3/10
