Jobie Reviews Music 67: GAIBSIV Volume One: FFTTEOM (album) by Coheed and Cambria

Full title: Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness

Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness is a 2005 progressive rock album by the band Coheed and Cambria. The album consists of 15 songs, spanning 1 hour and 11 minutes of music. The album, as with all of Coheed and Cambria’s albums, continues the story of The Amory Wars, the comics and books of the same name. The album continues Coheed and Cambria’s kickass sound and vocals, in the same way that was perfected on the previous 3 albums I reviewed from them.

As with the previous 3 Coheed and Cambria albums I’ve reviewed, this album incorporates elements from The Amory Wars into its lyrics. Even without the story in mind, as I’ve said countless times before, the lyrics stand on their own. The awesome vocals delivered on this album are even better than their previous albums.

Of course, we can’t forget the insanely good instrumentation that’s delivered on this album. Don’t believe me? Listen to “Welcome Home”. That song kicks so much ass that you’ll be headbanging to it the moment the guitar kicks in. If I was doing a review of just that song, I'd give that shit a 10/10. It’s just that amazing.

Coheed and Cambria deliver another album that can stand on its own, even without the help of the story backing up. Especially this album, which is worth it just for “Welcome Home” alone! Coheed and Cambria tell their story so well here that it’s almost mind-boggling. They managed to outdo themselves once again, which I personally didn’t know was possible.

Aside from that, everything on this album is just - done so well. I know it’s my 2nd time saying it, but the vocals! The instrumentation! It’s insane on this album! The clever creative elements incorporated into the album (such as recurring melodies and unique song structure) also make this album a must-listen.

Some of my favorite songs from this album include “Welcome Home”, “The Willing Well II: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness”, “The Willing Well I: Fuel for the Feeding End”, “The Willing Well III: Apollo II: The Telling Truth”, and “The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut”.

Overall, Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness is a must-listen. With kick-ass vocals and instrumentation that exceeds the quality of the previous 3 Coheed and Cambria albums I’ve reviewed, you’re sure to love this one. Coheed and Cambria really outdid themselves this time.

Overall rating:

9.8/10
