Downpour is a 2014 death metal album by the band Kataplexis. It contains 11 tracks, spanning 27 minutes of music. The album’s main highlight is the powerful vocals and instrumentation that Kataplexis delivers on this relatively short album. Fast-paced, insanely impactful guitar melodies can be heard throughout the entirety of this album, with equally intense vocals to match.
Tracks like “Stagnant” illustrate the album’s absolutely unforgiving death metal tunes the best, being blisteringly fast and delightfully loud. This album truly never holds back on its explosive, high-energy nature, and that’s what makes it great.
Though I can’t make out many of the lyrics, from what I heard the lyrics are actually quite creative. They seem to be death-metal-as-hell lyrics, like “How come the only light I see/Is down here”. Judging by the titles, most of them seem to be following a theme of lyrics akin to this. Couldn’t tell you what the exact theme is, though.
Some of the best tracks on this album are “Stagnant”, “Nobody Will Ever Live Here Again”, and “Nobody Lives Here Now”.
Overall, this album is an album with a sound that is blisteringly high energy with impactful vocals to match. A nice album all around.
