Jobie Reviews Music 9: Dinosaurchestra (album) by Lemon Demon

Dinosaurchestra is a 2006 album by Lemon Demon. It encompasses 18 tracks, and is meant to be a concept album. With that in mind, the first track, "Dinosaurchestra Part One", is a track about going back in time to perform in a "Dinosaurchestra". It's an alright track, probably wouldn't listen to it by itself though.

"Action Movie Hero Boy" is a track that follows a child as he tries to recreate the cliche of a dude walking away from an explosion that you can see in movies. This ends in disaster, with the boy blowing to bits along with everything else around him at the end of the track. Decent.

"Fine" is a track about looking on the bright side of things despite how desperate things might seem. One again, decent.

"Lawnmower" is a track that's just about mowing the lawn. Surprisingly it isn't boring, and actually quite a nice song.

"Stuck" is a track about a guy aware that he is a fictional character in a song. As the song goes on, he begs for the song not to end, but of course, it does. Nice.

And then, you get to the most famous and classic track in the album. "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" is a track about a massive fight between a wide range of fictional (and real) characters. You get to hear about how characters like Batman, Indiana Jones, Optimus Prime, Abraham Lincoln, and the Power Rangers - just to name a few - go absolutely ham on each other. The track ends with Mr. Rogers being the victor, which is quite unexpected given how Mr. Rogers actually acts. Good track.

"Vow of Silence" is a song about someone realizing they won't be able to ever say anything they want to say, so they instead decide to try to stay quiet. Decent.

The next track, "Neverending Hum", is, according to the commentary on the album, about the subconscious. It's decent.

"Dinosaurchestra Part Two" follows up Part One, concerning the same subject. Again, it's good on the album but by itself I wouldn't listen to it.

"Your Imaginary Friend" is a track about a group of imaginary friends that an unspecified person has long forgot about coming back years later. Nice track.

"Archaeopteryx" is a track about a man discovering the species of the same name, and being envious of the fact they can fly. He wants to eradicate the archaeopteryx so that there will be no birds, and thus, nothing that flies. Note that, at the time when the song was written, the archaeopteryx was the earliest bird discovered by scientists. This is no longer true.

"Eyewishes / Bystanding" Is a song in two parts: One part is about a man who associates eyelashes with wishes, thus he is miserable. The other part, Bystanding, is a song that iterates on "Bystanding" all the way up to the word "Quintessential". Decent.

"Indie Cindy & the Lo-fi Lullabies" is about a fictional artist named Indie Cindy having an unsuccessful career and eventually splitting up. Nice track.

"Nothing Worth Loving Isn't Askew" is a track about everyone being imperfect, yet society rejects people who aren't "normal". Nice track.

"This Hyper World" is a song about getting "getting off your butt and hopping around and enjoying life", according to the commentary included on physical versions of the album. Good track.

"Deep in the Ocean", to put it briefly, is basically about humans screwing themselves over and accidentally rejecting hooman, evolve to fish. This is due to the scummy human things the humans do while in the ocean, eventually leading to them being eaten by fish. Good track.

"Dinosaurchestra Part Three" is the final of the Dinosaurchestras in the song. This one is about the fictional band that traveled back in time getting stuck in this time period, and the computer they have with them calculating the fact that they're all about to die because of an incoming meteor. They won't go out without a good time, though. Nice track.

"The Too Much Song" is a love song. It feels like it would fit right in with being the credits to some movie. Good track.

Overall rating: A very goofy album with a very bizarre theme, *Dinosaurchestra* manages to have good tracks and really strange themes throughout its 18 tracks. Surprisingly good.

7.8/10
