Hello Echo - (Tour Edition) is a 2006 pop punk album by the band Maxeen. It is 11 tracks long, spanning 39 minutes of music. The album main appeal, for me at least, is the nice pop punk sound that it delivers. Great instrumentation can be found on all 11 tracks - with a nice guitar sound which easily distinguishes the album from similar ones. Brief little aside: This album was never released physically outside of tours (hence the name). I couldn’t find any information about why this was the case, however.
The album consistently delivers tracks which have good vocals, lyrics, and overall sound. The album really doesn’t have any weak points, with each track being an accessible (but still great) pop punk melody with catchy choruses. The unique sounding guitar sound (as mentioned earlier), which can be most easily noticed in the track “Block out the World”, is absolutely pleasurable to listen to. Maxeen uses their distinct sound to make each track enjoyable to listen to. You’d have to listen to the album to really get what I mean - it’s hard to describe purely in words how the guitar sounds on this album.
By far though the album’s strongest point comes in the form of the track “Block out the World” - it highlights, and even enhances, the previous 10 track’s (oh yeah, I forgot to mention that it’s the last track on the album) great sound. From the relatable lyrics to the great vocals and instrumentation, it’s an all around good song. In fact, the instrumentation on “Block out the World” is the main reason to listen to the song! There’s just something awesome about the slightly mellow guitar sound on “Block out the World” that makes it great.
Some of my favorite tracks from this album include “Love Goes A Long Way”, “Let Go”, and “Block out the World”.
Overall, Hello Echo - (Tour Edition) is a great all-round listen, with great instrumentation and vocals that make for an overall nice sound. Maxeen’s distinguishable, accessible sound makes for an awesome album, with “Block out the World'' being the album’s strongest track (and also the track with the highest replay value). Nicely done.
