This highly influential prog rock album was one of the first of its kind to combine jazz, classical music, and a variety of other genres to create an interesting listening experience like no other. Each song on the album contains a wide variety of musical content, with the first track, “21st Century Schizoid Man”, in particular, having a lengthy and highly intriguing instrumental section (officially called “Mirrors”), that adds lots of flavor to the track in question.
The album’s tracks are quite lengthy, the longest of which clocking in at exactly 12 minutes and 12 seconds. Despite this, King Crimson manages to fill the entirety of these tracks’ runtime with high quality content, with “Moonchild” in particular being packed with interesting musical content.
Overall, In the Court of the Crimson King is a great progressive rock album that incorporates a ton of interesting musical content into its runtime, providing the listener with a listening experience like no other.
