Madness: Project Nexus (Original Video Game Soundtrack) (Cheshyre Edition). Requested by F63.

Madness: Project Nexus (Original Video Game Soundtrack) (Cheshyre Edition) is a 2020 electronic album by Cheshyre. The album has 23 tracks, which makes for an hour and 29 minutes of music. The album is part of a series of albums which contain the soundtrack to the video game Madness: Project Nexus. Since I know nothing about the game, I will not be factoring this into the rest of the review.

That being said, the album does manage to be intriguing, even without any knowledge of the game (much like The Divided States (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) was able to stand by itself), with an interesting feel that remains consistent throughout all 23 tracks. You have this dark, yet also cool theme that makes the music give off a special “vibe”.

Some tracks however are unique from other tracks in the album, such as “Fucking Crazy’, which implements rather uncommon elements found in music of this type, with a strange arrangement of instrumentals being prominent in the track. This, however, isn’t a bad thing. In fact, the fact that it feels unique is another reason why this album succeeds. All of the tracks from this album have at least one distinctive element which ensures that all the tracks don’t blend into one another.

While I did categorize this album as being “electronic”, much like in “Fucking Crazy”, some tracks make use of less common instruments found in this genre. Such as the piano in “Chorus of the Damned”. Cheshyre’s choice to do this has to be appreciated, as it makes certain tracks have a special vibe to them.

In conclusion, listen to this album if you want an electronic album which stands out against other albums in the genre. It has a special feel, which keeps you entertained throughout the rather lengthy runtime.
